Washington Redskins 2008 NFL Draft Grade
The Redskins did a great job adding offensive weapons for young Jason Campbell. They drafted two of the top receivers in Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly. Thomas was a one-year wonder at Michigan State who flashed big time talent with size and speed. Kelly was my best receiver in the draft and was a steal in round two. These are two big kids, both over 6'2" tall and nearly 220 pounds. They are big targets to streak down the hash along fellow draft pick Fred Davis of USC. Davis was the best tight end in the draft and could have been gone in round one. He has excellent hands and should produce big time in DC.

Justin Tryon and Kareem Moore add depth to the secondary on day two and will get a chance to show their worth on special teams behind incumbent corners Rogers and Springs. Chad Rinehart impressed at the senior bowl and is a versatile lineman who adds depth at a variety of positions along the offensive line.

The steal for the Skins was Colt Brennan, a Heisman finalist and a quarterback who can make all the throws. He set records in college and could do the same in the pros. He has a funky delivery much like Tony Romo and nearly the same athleticism. He has added about twenty pounds since he graduated that will help him take an NFL beating. Chris Horton, a safety from UCLA, could be groomed into an eventual starter; he is a good athlete with NFL size and speed. This could be a gem of a pick.
